ISRO is set to launch the PSLV-C58 X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat)
The primary objective of the PSLV-C58 mission is to launch XPoSat into an eastward low inclination
orbit.
The mission will carry 10 identifi ed payloads, including XPoSat, supplied by ISRO and IN-
SPACe.
XPoSat is ISRO’s fi rst dedicated scientifi c satellite for conducting space-based polarization
measurements of X-ray emissions from celestial sources.
XPoSat carries two payloads: POLIX (Polarimeter Instrument in X-rays) developed by the Raman
Research Institute and XSPECT (X-ray Spectroscopy and Timing) developed by the Space Astronomy
Group of URSC, Bengaluru.
In addition to XPoSat, the PSLV will also carry 10 payloads developed by start-ups, educational
institutions, and ISRO centers, including Dust Experiment (DEX), Fuel Cell Power System (FCPS), Si-
based High Energy Cell, Radiation Shielding Experimental Module (RSEM), and WEST.
